Collection Management Workshops Pt 1 and 2
Part 1 introduces the HPL Collection Policy and talks about how to handle customer suggestions and concerns about materials; discusses HPL policy regarding withdrawals, introduces basic floating/weeding procedures based on condition, date and use; and shows attendees how to use tools such as the CREW manual and Collection HQ reports to make decisions about your collection. Participants will do some hands-on weeding to implement what they've learned. This workshop is a prerequisite for Collection Management part 2.
Collection Management part 2 provides participants with the tools to make decisions about what to keep and what to float; presents Collection HQ reports that can float over materials your customers want, refresh items that are in poor condition, and tell you what is moving at your location; and offers other tools for balancing your collection. A hands-on floating section ends the morning.
